Making Trains Fun is a special hands-on clinic for children 15 and under, and includes two parts. Part 1 is Flat Car loads. In this session, students design and build a G-scale flat car load using materials provided by the festival. The completed flatcars are then taken out to the Amherst Garden Railroad and run together as a train. The completed flatcars belong to the students and are theirs to take home. Part 2 is Railroad Structures. In this session, students decorate a line-side railroad structure. The completed structures are then taken out to the Amherst Garden Railroad and set up along the tracks for trains to pass by. The completed flatcars belong to the students and are theirs to take home.

Show visitors, in turn, get to admire some really creative modeling and ask questions about how the work was done. Show visitors are eligible to bring large-scale modeling projects for display. The Drag & Brag section is sponsored by Large Scale Central.
The New Hampshire Garden Railway Society, Inc., is a publicly supported New Hampshire 501(c)3 organization. Our purpose is to educate and promote enthusiasm for the large-scale model railroading hobby. We have a particular emphasis on garden railways, inclusive of their design, construction, operation, and maintenance, in addition to the history of actual railways depicted in our scale models. Our club members run an assortment of different scales from about 1:20.3 to 1:32, but all on 45mm gauge (LGB-style) track. We have members who run variable DC track power, DCC systems, remote control-based systems, and even live steam. There is something for every experience level in our group! While most participants are from the New England region, our members are spread throughout eight states, including California.
The Flying Yankee Association (FYA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration and operation of Boston & Maine Railroad streamliner #6000, the Flying Yankee. The Flying Yankee is a unique time machine that serves as a tangible link to a bygone era.

For a long time, people have had a love affair with railroading. Although there are not many railroads left here in the United States, garden railroading has become a passion for some. There are many wonderful dwarf conifers, ferns, sedums, and other miniature-like perennials that fit perfectly in a garden railway setting. They offer a nice variety of these plants for the beginner to the most sophisticated garden railroaders!
